Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome! I am so excited to work with you! Before our first session together, please fill out your intake paperwork via your client portal the day before we meet so I can review it. You will receive a text or email depending on your preference to remind you of your upcoming appointment. If you are meeting online, ensure you have a strong WIFI connection and a private space, so you can have session without any technical difficulties.

We will spend your first session getting to know you: what difficulties are you facing now? What do you want to get out of therapy? What are your friends and family like? Who do you rely on? What is work/school like? I will ask some questions about your social and medical history, review policies together, assess, make a safety plan, provide you some immediate resources, and explain the process to you.

FYI Your initial session can be intense! Be prepared to meet for up to 90 minutes.

Therapy is personal and everyone has different needs so it depends on the individual. People can be in therapy for a short period of time, anywhere from 3-6 months, to deal with something like a recent loss or a breakup, or it can be more long term, lasting several years. I will personalize your treatment to best fit your needs and check in with you frequently to ensure we’re making progress towards your goals.

Weekly sessions are 5o minutes each and I recommend meeting weekly for the first 6 months and/or until a significant reduction in symptoms.

I offer Telehealth appointments at this time, with plans to move in person soon. Keep an eye out!

Almost everything you and your therapist discuss during session remains private and is protected by HIPAA except for a few things. As a mandated reporter, your therapist is obligated to disclose if you are at risk of hurting yourself, hurting someone else, or if there is a suspicion of child abuse. Other than those exceptions, everything else is confidential.

I am not a crisis therapist and have limited availability outside of their session time. During your sessions, that 50 minutes belongs to you and I will give you my undivided attention. I will provide resources following your first appointment if you need additional support. If you are in a medical or mental health emergency situation, please go to your nearest hospital emergency room, call 911, call your psychiatrist/physician, or a family member/friend.

If you need to talk to someone right away call your local Psychiatric Emergency Services or resources below:

  • 24-hour crisis line: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 988
  • National Hopeline Network (800) SUICIDE
  • Teen Crisis Hotline (800) 448-3000
  • National Youth Crisis Hotline (800) 442-HOPE (4673)

It depends on how late your cancelation or rescheduling is. If you cancel/reschedule before 24 hours, you will not incur any fee. If you cancel after the 24 hour window, you will be charged a $50 fee. If you do not show up for session, you will be held financially responsible for the total cost of session. The detailed attendance policy and fee schedule will be in your welcome paperwork.

Individual Sessions- $200

30 Minute Phone Consultations are complimentary

As per the No Surpises Act, you can request a Good Faith Estimate regarding an approximate cost of services at time of scheduling or in advance of receiving services. Therapy outcomes, unlike certain medical procedures or treatment, can be difficult to predict and are affected by various factors (ie. ongoing life challenges, your level of effort and implementation of strategies reviewed in therapy, concerns which emerge throughout treatment, etc.), however, I can provide a Good Faith Estimate to the best of my ability based on my knowledge of your individual situation. The fee you pay for services may very well be less than what is reflected in your individual Good Faith Estimate. You can learn more about the law here.

From CMS.gov, Section 2799b-3 of the Public Health Service Act (PHS Act) requires health care professionals to make publicly available and provide a notice that includes information in clear and understandable language on:

  1. The restrictions on the restrictions on providers and facilities regarding balance billing in certain circumstances,
  2. any applicable state law protections against balance billing, and
  3. information on contacting appropriate state and federal agencies in the case that an individual believes that a provider or facility has violated the restrictions against balance billing.

Health care providers and facilities may, but aren’t required to, use this model notice to meet these disclosure requirements. To use this document properly, the provider or facility should review and complete it in a manner consistent with applicable state and federal law. HHS considers use of this model notice in accordance with these instructions to be good faith compliance with the disclosure requirements of section 2799B-3 of the PHS Act and 45 CFR 149.430, ifallotherapplicablePHSActrequirementsaremet.

If a state develops model language for its disclosure notice that is consistent with section 2799B-3 of the PHS Act, HHS will consider a provider or facility that makes good faith use of the state-developed model language to be compliant with the federal requirement to include information about state law protections.
